MYO Grubbie Overview
MYOs or Make-Your-Owns are items that allow you to make a Grubbie that can be used within the Home Plate group. Home Plate has 3 MYO items with different capabilities:
Recipe
Just a basic MYO that can make a 1 or 2 star Grubbie! With items, they can be up to 5 star. These Grubbies can be 1-5 star. This item can be bought at any time at Tree Stump Publishing for 30 inspiration. This item may also be available during events or raffles.
Unusual Recipe
An MYO that can make an INEDIBLE Grubbie! These Grubbies can only be INEDIBLE.This item is only available during events or raffles.
Appetizer
A baby Grubbie design with a set food inspiration and star rating that can be grown with 30 treasure to become full grown Grubbie design. The design should somewhat resemble the baby Grubbie, unless using items. For more information on how to make the grown design for an Appetizer, please view the Appetizer Guide. These Grubbies can be 1-5 star as well as 0 star.BEFORE THE GRUBBIE HAS A GROWN DESIGN, these Grubbies are not allowed to be used in prompts unless the prompt states you may use them. Currently, the Lonely Road prompts and Treasure Prompts are the only ones that allow you to use the newborn Grubbie design. This item is only available during events or raffles.
Restrictions
Grubbies must be based off of real life foods or ingredients! However, multiple Grubbies can have the same food or item inspiration as long as the two Grubbies look distinct enough from each other to be different. While you may share WIPs of Grubbie designs you are making in the Discord, you must have the MYO and the items needed to make the design before sharing! Also, please make sure you are sharing designs that you intend to be approved. Do not share designs you do not intend to submit for approval. For a more thorough list on what is not allowed for Grubbies, please review the Design Rules section of the Terms of Service.
How to Design a Grubbie
Grubbies come in all different shapes and sizes! There's not exactly a "standard" Grubbie look, which can make it a little hard to know how to design a Grubbie. Feel free to view the Masterlist to get a feel for what Grubbies can look like.
Universal Grubbie Traits
While Grubbies can look drastically different from each other, there's a few things that all Grubbies have. We will briefly describe these traits below.
Head
All grubbies have a food head. This means that at least half of the grubbie's head should look like food and should in some way represent the food they are based off of.For example, if the food inspiration is "fruit salad," you can have the head be one of the fruits that make up the salad.
Eyes
All Grubbies have two pinpoint eyes. Injuries may make it so they only have 1 or no eyes. The eyes, however it is drawn, should not take up more than 1/4th of the character's head.
Mouth
All Grubbies have some kind of mouth. These can be :3 :> :o or something else. The mouths are meant to be very simple, like they were drawn on the Grubbie's surface, but a more "structured" mouth such as a small beak or a crocodile's snout can be used.
Body
All Grubbies have some kind of body. They are made from the food and/or item they are based off of. The bodies are normally very blobby and have short, stubby limbs. They tend to not have too much detail.Their bodies can look more stretched out however, especially if they are based off of different animals or mythological creatures.
On Stylization
Grubbies may be drawn to fit your style however you want! They can be as simple or as detailed and rendered as you'd like, and you may disregard the stylization pointers listed below when drawing personal art or prompt art. However, when drawing the Masterlist art, please keep the following in mind:
The eyes should not take up more than 1/4th the size of the head. Therefore, while you can draw Grubbie eyes with a little more detail (such as small anime eyes), they should not be super big either. Below is a small reference on what you can and can't do!
Most Grubbie mouths are more or less :3 :> or :o type mouths. These kinds of mouths do not possess a lot of dimension and may be more difficult to stylize. More "structured" mouths however can be styled however you'd like, similar to drawing animals in a more stylized form!
Grubbie bodies generally consist of the food or item they are made from. Thus, if your style is more realistic or rendered, you can look to the food or item's consistency to inform how you render them. If the body does not look like it is directly made of that food (such as with Cabbage), you can generally render them more or less like smooth, blobby bodies. They do not have literal fur or hair, but feel free to draw in tufts to imply they do!
How to Submit your Design for Approval
Submitting your design for approval is easy!First, go to the Design Approval Google Form. This can be accessed from the home page of this website through the design approval button. You will be met with the form below. Fill out the first question with your Discord username. Note that you must put your handle, not your server nickname or your display name! For example, my Discord display name is zach, but my Discord username is z4cherie. I would type z4cherie in the form below.
Then, choose which MYO you are submitting or whether you are submitting a revamp of an existing Grubbie. The answer to the second question will direct you to a different section for your needs.
The following sections are mostly very similar, so this example can generally be used for the others. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the Discord for help.Once on the second page, you can link to your design. Remember to host your file on a reliable platform!
If you used any items to create your Grubbie, please select all that apply in this section.
Then click Submit and your Grubbie will be in the queue ready for review! If the Grubbie is approved, the Masterlist will be updated with your Grubbie, whether it is a new Grubbie or an update to an existing Grubbie.
If the Grubbie is not approved, I will send you a DM letting you know what needs to be changed. Please keep DMs on for this purpose! If I cannot reach you via DM, I will be unable to let you know what needs to be changed.I aim to update the Masterlist OR send the DM within a week of an approval being sent in. If you do not see an update to the Masterlist with your Grubbie by then, feel free to message me on Discord to let me know.
🎨 appetizer design guide 🎨
Appetizer Overview
A typical Appetizer MYO consists of a baby Grubbie design, the Food it is based off of, and a Star Rating.
Baby Grubbie Design
A typical Baby Grubbie design will look something like this:
The design will be a typical Baby Grubbie (two eyes with no mouth, a head that resembles the food they are based off of, and a simple one color body). There will also be two colors to the side, one from the head and one from the body, that must be present to some degree in the final grown form. You have some freedom to change things in the Baby Grubbie design for the grown Grubbie design. Some of the things you can do are:
Change the head shape completely from what it currently is (as long as it somewhat resembles the food it is based off of)
Add colors to your Grubbie
Add small features to your Grubbie (such as ears and whiskers)
Change the body shape of the Grubbie with the use of items
Things that you cannot change include:
The food it is based off of
Completely taking out the two colors in the final design
Food
The Food inspiration for this particular Appetizer is Cheddar. The Grubbie design (especially the head) can be interpreted however you'd like as long as it makes sense for the Food inspiration. As stated before, the Food inspiration cannot be changed for Appetizers.
Star Rating
The Star Rating for this particular Appetizer is 2 Stars. The Star Rating may be changed for the Grubbie using items.
Designing Your Grown Grubbie
You can interpret the Baby Grubbie design and Food inspiration in a few ways to make your Grown Grubbie design.
This first design maintains the general shape of the head. It adds a few colors to the design, but keeps the two mandatory colors on the head and body in some way.
The second design changes the shape of the head drastically to a triangular slice of cheddar cheese. While the main color on the head is the darker orange color, it still has the original mandatory yellow. Other colors were added to the body, while still having the mandatory tan color. Both of these designs are good for approval!
This design would not be possible. While white cheddar exists, the yellow that is mandatory to be added to the grown design is not found anywhere on the head, even though the body color is. This would be denied and would need changes to be made for approval!
This design without items would not be possible. If using either a glowing review item (allows use of all 5 star traits) OR a legendary nectar (allows a Grubbie to have a mythological creature body plan), this design would be okay, since it uses both mandatory colors and still adheres to the food inspiration!
Growing Your Appetizer
There are a few different ways to grow your Appetizer. From passively earning 30 treasures to grow your Grubbie, completing Treasure Quests to grow your Grubbie, doing a combination of the two, or even a secret option that can make your Grubbie a 0 star Grubbie.
Passively Earning 30 Treasure
You can do dailies in the Community Discord in the #daily-treasure-claim
channel by doing !work
. You can do this once every 21 hours (to give people wiggle room to claim your daily without having to claim them on time on the dot every day). If you do this 30 times (about 1 month), you will have enough treasure to grow your Appetizer. This may be best for you if you don't have time to do prompts to grow your Appetizer. You can then submit your grown design to Design Approval!
Completing Treasure Quests
You can complete all of the Treasure Quests to earn 30 treasure to grow your Appetizer! Treasure Quests allow you to use your Appetizer's design to address the prompt (compared to the monthly prompt, which you cannot use your ungrown Appetizer design in). Doing all 6 of them will grant you 30 treasure. This may be best for you if you want to develop your Appetizer before you grow them.Once you've submitted all the quests, you can submit your grown design to Design Approval!
Combination of the Two
You can also do some dailies and do some of the Treasure Quests to get to 30 treasure! This may be best for you if you don't want to do wait at least 30 days to get the treasure, but also don't want to do all 6 treasure quests.
Secret Option
There is a secret option that can allow you to make your Grubbie 0 stars. This requires you to complete the two parter quest line The Lonely Road. You must use the same Appetizer Grubbie for both parts of the quest, as One Man's Treasure is bound to your Appetizer. When completed, you will obtain One Man's Treasure, which replaces the need to get the 30 treasure to normally grow your Appetizer.
Growing a 0 Star Grubbie
0 Star Grubbies can be depicted in a number of ways. They can be rotten, moldy, burnt, expired, etc. Anything that would make a food item unsuitable for eating. Here, we will use the Cheddar Appetizer as an example.
This design works, as it still uses the two mandatory colors. It also looks like it is molding, which makes it a 0 Star Grubbie. Feel free to get creative with it!You will still need to use items in order to add traits the Appetizer did not have.
Submitting your Appetizer Grown Design
Submitting your Appetizer grown design is very similar to submitting other designs! There's just a few more options.Once you select the Appetizer (Baby MYO) option in the first section, you will be met with the below.
You will need to go to the Masterlist and check the Appetizer ML tab to check for your Appetizer Grubbie's ID.Once you've done that, you will add any items you've used for the grown design like in other sections. Finally, you will get to this section of the form.
This is simply a check for you to make sure you have the 30 treasure OR One Man's Treasure item in your account.Once you check and click Yes, you're free to submit!
⭐ the grubbie gourmet guide ⭐
grubbies come in all shapes and sizes. however, some forms are rarer than others. grubbie experts have created a rating system that categorizes grubbies based on their rarest characteristics.the basic grubbie star rating system goes from 1 star to 5 stars, with rarer grubbies having more stars. these encompass most encountered grubbies. there are two special tiers, 0 stars and INEDIBLE, which are much rarer than even 5 star grubbies, with their own unique criteria.
★☆☆☆☆ (one star)
these grubbies are the most basic of the bunch!the following traits are associated with one star grubbies:
derived from an ingredient, seasoning, or other "base" foods (garlic, black pepper, dill pickle, etc.)
derived from simple beverages (lemonade, sodas, juice, an americano, etc.)
body with 4 legs with paws (think cat/dog paws) OR 4 short simple stub limbs. this allows for grubbies with more realistic dog/cat proportions and very simple 4 legged blob body grubbies.
no tail, mammalian tails (bob tail, dog/cat tail, etc.), food tails
★★☆☆☆ (two star)
these grubbies are just a little more complex!the following traits are associated with two star grubbies:
derived from snacks (popcorn, candies, chips, etc.)
derived from complex beverages (cocktails, smoothies, milkshakes, etc.)
derived from simple meals, with "one component" (mac 'n cheese, burger, fruit salad, broccoli cheddar soup, etc.)
body with 4 legs with paws (think cat/dog paws) OR 4 short simple stub limbs. this allows for grubbies with more realistic dog/cat proportions and very simple 4 legged blob body grubbies.
no tail, mammalian tails (bob tail, dog/cat tail, etc.), food tails
★★★☆☆ (three star)
these grubbies are getting kinda funky!the following traits are associated with 3 star grubbies:
derived from a full meal. think like a combo meal, or a meal with distinct components to them. (curry and rice, burger and fries, english breakfast, a thanksgiving feast, pastry and drink)
has an inedible utensil or "food vessel" component as part of their body (dish, bowl, bottle, bag, etc.). the utensil or food vessel can't be taken off of the grubbie. if it can, it should look like an accessory (tied, taped on, etc.)
animal body that does not fall under the 4 legs with paws/short simple stub limbs body plan (turtles, giraffes, birds, monkey, etc.)
any other animal tail
★★★★☆ (four star)
these grubbies are rather impressive!the following traits are associated with four star grubbies:
elemental powers. these can be quite ridiculous, such as wine manipulation or konpeito slinging! they can also be more traditional things like fire or water powers
humanoid body
★★★★★ (five star)
these grubbies are LEGENDARY!the following traits are associated with five star grubbies:
FEAST: having multiple faces
HUGE: must be at least as big as a large dog, but no bigger than a dining table
mythical creature body. this also includes extinct species that do not follow the 4 legs with paws body plan
☆☆☆☆☆ (zero star)
these grubbies can have the traits associated with 1-5 star grubbies. however, they are rotten, moldy, burnt, expired, etc. anything that would make a food unsuitable for eating.
INEDIBLE
these “grubbies” are non-food based. there is NO food component to them (if you’re a coward)! these grubbies can have traits associated with 1-5 star grubbies (excluding the traits that determine their food type) and will still be considered INEDIBLE.
🗒️ a field guide to grubbies 🗒️
✏️ an introduction to grubbies ✏️
there are many, many different worlds out there, with different cultures, geography, and even beings! some of those worlds have very little knowledge of magic whatsoever, while there are others where magic is as plentiful as the air they breathe. grubbies, interestingly, seem to be as universal as cooking and loving. they seem to pop up anywhere there’s at least a little bit of magic and cooking. they even seem to have a world they feel a pull to… one that they all feel at home in called the home plate.
😋 so… what are grubbies?
put simply, they are food that has magically come to life! grubbies have humble beginnings as little morsels of regular old food, from the simplest ingredients to an elaborate king’s feast. they usually seem to take on familiar forms, such as cute dogs and cats, but their forms are as varied as cooking itself… unlimited possibilities! some can even develop elemental powers… mysterious…wherever they come from, whatever they look like, there’s one thing that unites all grubbies: they are created by the love of the chef that made them!

the average fully grown grubbie is generally about the size of your palm to no bigger than the common dinner plate! baby grubbies are barely the size of a thumb…despite their size, grubbies are heavier than they look! some can grow even bigger than that! grubbies that are HUGE seem to simply grow more on the same amount of love given.
🔬 body composition
a grubbie’s body is made of the food they are derived from! this means a grubbie is technically edible, but we advise against this as these little guys (especially if they are INEDIBLE or 0 stars ‼️) like frolicking outside. regardless of the consistency of the food they derive from however, the body is always “formed” enough to stay together and keep its general shape most of the time.
liquid body grubbies will generally keep their body shape, even if they may “slosh” around and briefly distort their body shape (though they cannot form additional or different appendages—this also holds true for more solid bodies as well).
grubbies whose bodies are made of distinct pieces may “spill” sometimes and briefly lose their form, but they won’t stay that way for long!
grubbies that have utensils or food vessel components to them incorporate them into their body as babies. these components may be capable of movement (especially if they make up the body of the grubbie), but the movement will be noticeably stiffer than a grubbie whose body is made of food.
👁️ the eyes
with which to see the world. all grubbies have two pinpoint eyes, unless injured in some way. the eyes can move around the head of the grubbie like a cartoon character. if feeling particularly silly, they can even go all around the head!
👄 the mouth
with which to be troublesome. the mouth, much like the eyes, can usually move around the head, though some mouths can’t move around as easily (due to being a part of a food vessel component or being a non :3 mouth). all grown grubbies have some kind of mouth. grubbies do not eat! they simply absorb the love that’s around them. thus, the grubbie’s mouth is just another way to interact with the world. they can taste things, get the feel for the texture of knicknacks, and babble with others… all with their little mouths!
if they consume anything through the mouth, it is simply absorbed by the body, where it dissolves and disappears. poof. where did it go…
grubbies can mimic noises very well! they like to repeat sounds they hear a lot :]
💗 tenacity
grubbies have indomitable spirits. they can withstand almost anything, from being squashed to being dropped from incredible heights. it is nearly impossible to harm them in a way that matters. experts believe that it is the immense power of the love they are surrounded by that allows them to bounce back from things, literally and figuratively!
💪 super strength!
this tenacity also bestows upon them a surprising amount of strength as well! think ants in terms of how much they can lift relative to their little body weight. they can use this strength to move things from their path, but they mostly like using this strength to carry things they collect.
🪄 blinking and blipping
their tenacity also allows them to blink from place to place, especially away from danger. they seem to be able to use alley ways, little mouse holes, and burrows to just… vanish. this does not seem to be a completely controlled or precise process, but it is purported they can use this ability to not only blink around their world, but between worlds as well.
❤️ tenacity is stored in the morsels
this tenacity and life force of theirs is concentrated in a very dense heart shaped core in their chest. it is often simply referred to as the core. it is made from the morsels of the original food they sprang from, the original morsels. it is so densely packed that it accounts for most of a grubbie’s total weight. this makes it hard for most grubbies to swim or fly (if they have the technical capacity for it).grubbies that are unfortunately not surrounded by love tend to have less energy and take longer to recover from injuries :[
🌱 the grubbie lifecycle 🌳
when food is handled and made with great love and care, a little bit of that love makes its way inside a tiny morsel of that food… and a grubbie will start to form! huzzah!
🌄 the miracle of birth
a newborn grubbie has that morsel of food as their head. it also has a very basic body (an extremely simplified version of whatever body type they will end up with) and two beady little eyes. they have only a solid block of color for their body. a grubbie is first considered “born” with the presence of the little body and eyes.
🧸 baby days
after about three days, the grubbie’s head (and body if applicable) will take on forms that look more “conventionally” like the food they came from. the original morsels condense and form the heart shaped core that houses a grubbie’s overwhelming tenacity.the baby stage, which lasts about six months, is when showering that grubbie with love is most critical. love allows for the grubbie to grow bigger and stronger and more resilient to anything life throws at them, whether it is a physical or mental hardship. they may also incorporate utensils and/or food vessel components to their body. this allows them to be able to potentially manipulate them for movement (albeit much more stiffly).
🕺💃 all grown up!
a grubbie is fully grown when it forms a mouth with which to be troublesome. they also usually gain additional features, such as ears and markings, but this is not always the case, and some grubbies may look very similar to their baby form. some grubbies may even develop elemental powers, which will also be realized when a grubbie is fully grown. grown grubbies may not need caretakers, but they still need to be surrounded by love to stay active and healthy!
💔 when a grubbie is unloved...
sometimes a grubbie doesn’t get the love they need as a baby, without a single other soul around them to show love. without that constant supply of love, the grubbie may become moldy, rotted, expired, burnt, or any other number of things that would normally make food go bad. this cannot be reversed once it’s happened. however, they can still flourish with extra love when fully grown! <3 all grubbies can be loved!
❓ eh? inedible grubbies?
even inedible things can become grubbies! these grubbies are mostly formed by babies and people accidentally (or purposefully) eating these non-food items. despite their unusual origins, they still require the same kind of love and care to grow up big and strong!
💗 the grubbie spirit
all grubbies, no matter their upbringing, have an innate sense of “home” and an insatiable wanderlust that seems to be powered by their tenacity. once they are grown, more often than not, they choose to wander the world they were born into. all grubbies navigate their delicious journey differently, doing whatever their little hearts desire. eventually, at some point in their life, they all seem to leave for this “home.” some seem to stay there, while some continue their meandering between different worlds.
🌌 end of life...
grubbies do not have a consistent life expectancy. however, one thing that is certain is that they cannot be killed! trying to take their core is futile, as it is quickly snatched back up by the body, and no amount of sick and twisted things can actually do lasting damage to them. grubbies only seem to die when they simply feel that it is their time. for some, it might be after 20 years. for other grubbies, it may be for more than a 100 years. how they decide it is their time differs between different grubbies.when they do pass on though, the only trace of them you’ll see are just a few crumbs…
🍳 nutrition and enrichment 💖
baby grubbies require a very strict diet of love and attention. with love, baby grubbies grow bigger and stronger! grown grubbies also require love and attention! the love they absorb allows them to bounce back from all sorts of things. grubbies without a consistent supply of love are weaker both physically and mentally :[ they have less energy to move and bounce around as well. therefore, you can never show a grubbie too much love! <3without love to help them grow, a grubbie can go bad and become a 0 star grubbie :[ all is not lost if this happens however! they can still be shown love as grown (albeit moldy) grubbies.
💖 showing grubbies love!
grubbies can receive love and attention in a variety of ways! it is just like showing any loved ones affection. here’s a list of things we’ve curated to help you figure out how to interact with grubbies:
dedicated play time (especially for baby grubbies!)
words of affirmation
buying gifts (they looooove accessories! make sure they’re small enough for the grubbie though!)
warm hugs (your mileage may vary depending on the Wetness of the grubbie)
taking your grubbie out to see the world
simply coexisting next to the grubbie with love in your heart <3
✨ grubbin' culture ✨
grubbies are adaptable, resilient, and curious creatures! they can also often be very mischievous, often enjoying a good prank or goof. they seem to occupy a niche similar to faeries, whose actions often seem inscrutable and whimsical. at the heart of it, many grubbies’ motivations for their actions seem to boil down to wanting to give and receive love, fun, and whimsy with others.this want to give and receive love, fun, and whimsy makes grubbies pretty sociable, both with other grubbies and other beings in general! while some individual grubbies may be more aloof or edgy, they still need at least a little bit of love and affection from others now and then.while grubbies can act rather ditzy and childish, they are intelligent, very independent creatures! baby grubbies usually have some kind of “caretaker” in the world they were born into and are fairly dependent on these caretakers when growing up. however, once they are grown, they develop a strong sense of identity and independence. they may choose to stay with their caretakers or wander, coming back to visit once in a while. grubbies forced to stay in one place can get grumpy, irritable, or lose their spark, and will often maliciously comply with requests.
🌫️ the elusive nature of grubbies
grubbies don’t seem to be noticeable to all beings in every world. in some worlds where magic is common, grubbies are a well known phenomenon with everyone being able to perceive them. they may even be considered a nuisance! however, in other worlds where magic is far less common or well understood, only a few people may be able to perceive grubbies.some grubbies like to take advantage of the fact that only some people are able to see grubbies in some worlds and play little pranks on them, bugging them around people that cannot see grubbies. scaling structures to try to get their attention, crawling all over their food and making tiny messes in the kitchen, you name it!
🏕️ an adventurous, fashionable, collector's spirit
grubbies love to travel and wander! their insatiable wanderlust takes them far and wide, though always in the presence of love and affection. some even say grubbies seem to be attracted to those who need a little extra love and whimsy in their lives and seem to happen upon such folks… though this isn’t really verifiable information.they looooove picking up small trinkets they like to refer to as their treasures on their journeys! you will often find that a grubbie will have some kind of collection of things either carried around with them or have stored in their “home base” (whether that’s in another world or the home plate).their wandering often requires them to stock up on little supplies! grubbies are incredibly crafty and often craft makeshift tools with tiny things they find on their treks. some tools they craft don't even look like they should work, and yet they do... what they can’t find or make, they will often stock up on in big banquets (cities in the home plate) like little sprig (their "capital"), where the most talented of the grubbies will sell their wares!grubbies are surprisingly very fashion forward! they love to accessorize! due to their (usually) small size, they usually accessorize with tiny things like stickers and buttons and down feathers. little sprig might have more “sophisticated” accessories made by and for grubbies.
🎉 let them cook! 🎉
grubbies have always been born outside of home plate, only making their way to their home world after growing up and wandering for a little bit. recently though, there have been some grubbies that seem to spawn in home plate. given that there are really only spirits that live there (that do not cook), this is very unusual. however, we believe that the grubbies may be starting to cook…
🪅 it's an extravaganza!
when at least two grubbies donate a tiny morsel of their food and wish very hard with so much love in their hearts, the donated morsels combine to form a new baby grubbie!
📜 a prestigious lineage
this baby grubbie will always be some kind of food that can be made from the donated morsels of food. the grubbie can become a straightforward mix of the foods put together or a complex meal or food using those ingredients.
for example, a black coffee grubbie and a sugar grubbie can donate their morsels to create a latte grubbie (a more straightforward mix of the two ingredients). however, they could also create a tiramisu grubbie (a recipe that uses coffee and sugar).
more “complex” grubbies can also donate an ingredient from the meal they are derived from. for example, a curry and rice grubbie can donate just their “rice portion” of themselves.
🌳 the family unit
grubbies born in home plate will usually be raised by the community of grubbies around them! it takes a banquet, as they say… due to this, grubbies don’t exactly have a notion of a nuclear family, instead choosing to see everyone in their sort of “immediate community” as their big happy whimsical family!these grubbies may also choose to stay in their home world or wander off to different worlds to carve their own delicious journey!
🍿 bite sized trivia! 🍿
🥘 did you know that a group of grubbies is called a platter?
if you see a group of grubbies grubbin’ around, you can say you saw a “platter of grubbies!” you could even say something like a “plattering of grubbies.” a bigger group of grubbies (in the hundreds) could be a “platterful of grubbies.” you can get silly with it!
🙊 did you know grubbies have their own language?
all grubbies have knowledge of an “innate” language they all speak. interestingly, non-grubbies listening to a grubbie speaking their language intuitively get a “sense” of what the grubbie is yapping about. it may not be an exact understanding, but one can get the general gist of what was said. they sound a lot like animal crossing villages when they speak (high pitched yapping).grubbies can also learn other languages as well! they pick up languages rather quickly. some very well traveled grubbies may be able to speak hundreds of languages.
💤 did you know grubbies don’t need sleep?
many grubbies choose to sleep, but they physically do not need it! they especially do so when the beings around them sleep to fit in <3 some grubbies that are always on the move will not sleep!
😋 did you know grubbies like to eat?
much like with sleep, while grubbies don't need to eat, a not insignificant amount like to eat anyway! they do have a sense of taste, and some grubbies like to eat and drink just for the fun of it. they tend to avoid foods that are the same or similar to them though...
⚾ did you know that grubbies love baseball?
if you go to the home plate, but especially little sprig, you will find that a lot of grubbies seem to really love baseball. it's not exactly baseball though... in fact it's about the same as baseball as american football is to football. to differentiate it from the baseball we know, we simply call it "grubbie baseball."grubbies love grubbie baseball so much that when the season starts, they call that time of year "baseball."
🍽️ the home plate 🍽️
all grubbies’ ability to blink between worlds, along with their innate sense of home, combine to eventually bring all grubbies to what can best be described as a spirit world: home to all kinds of different spirits and beings, and in particular, other fellow grubbies.their home world, which they like to call the home plate, is a very natural environment. think gentle rolling hills with verdant grass and colorful flowers dappled across the surface, perfect for a picturesque picnic, though all kinds of climates can be found in this world. there’s very little “development” here, save for a few homey and cozy villages which they call banquets.
🌱 little sprig
the biggest banquet, little sprig, named after the baby willow that the first grubbies found growing on top of the knoll, has the greatest population of grubbies in home plate and has a bustling trade and barter hub. one could consider it their “capital.” even if some grubbies don’t stick around to live in the banquet, a good chunk of them like to stop by little sprig to get supplies to head out on their newest adventure.
🧺 other banquets
there are other grubbies that prefer to live in smaller banquets! they can be in all sorts of biomes. feel free to come up with your own!banquets may also have random spirits and beings either pass by or live in these banquets as well. little sprig for instance, seems to have an ancient spirit that lives in the grand willow tree that grew from the little sprout on top of the knoll! no one has seen it, but it seems to like to trade with the grubbies sometimes for random things.

Design Rules
Users may create Grubbie designs through the use of Make Your Own (MYO) items. MYOs or Make-Your-Owns are items that allow you to make a Grubbie that can be used within the Home Plate group.Home Plate has 3 MYO items with different capabilities called Recipes, Unusual Recipes, and Appetizers. Users may not create Grubbies without one of these items. These MYO items may be available for free or USD purchase via events, raffles, or shop purchase with in-game currency. The following lists out the different items with their USD value and function:
Recipe ($10): A basic Make Your Own (MYO). This allows a user to create a Grubbie based off a food of their choice* with a 1 or 2 star rating (as described in the grubbie gourmet guide). Other items may be applied to give the Grubbie traits associated with 3, 4, or 5 star ratings. These Grubbies can be 1-5 star.
Unusual Recipe ($20): A Make Your Own that allows you to create an INEDIBLE Grubbie based off of an object of their choice* (as described in the grubbie gourmet guide). These Grubbies can only be INEDIBLE.
Appetizer ($15): A baby Grubbie design (a baby Grubbie appearance's is described in the grubbie lifecycle). The design comes with a determined food that cannot be changed and a star rating that can be changed through the use of items. The design must be "grown" to be used officially in the group and must somewhat resemble the baby, unless using items to change appearance. These Grubbies can be 1-5 star as well as 0 star. The ungrown, newborn Grubbie design cannot be used in prompts unless mentioned that they can be in the prompt itself.
Grubbies must be based off of real-life based foods. This means Grubbies cannot be based off of fantasy ingredients or foods, but they can be "made up" food using real-life ingredients.Once a Grubbie has a set design, the food or item the Grubbie is based off of cannot be changed. While the interpretation of the food or item can be changed through the use of items, the inspiration cannot. You must use another Recipe or Unusual Recipe to create a Grubbie with the inspiration of your choice. Before a design is submitted however, the boxed leftovers item may be used to make a grubbie based off of a full meal instead of a simple meal or ingredient.Multiple Grubbies may be based off of the same food or item. As there are multiple ways to interpret the same food, multiple Grubbies may have the same inspiration.* There are some restrictions on what you may base Grubbies off of. The list of what is prohibited for Grubbies includes, but is not limited to:
All drugs, tobacco and THC/weed products
Guns and explosives
NSFW paraphernalia
Medical supplies
Bodily fluids and excrement
Organs and body parts of any animal (including humans)
Copyrighted materials and characters based on IP
Grubbies may not have hateful symbols or promote bigoted sentiments. Any Grubbie found to contain such elements will be voided immediately and the owner subject to warnings, strikes, or a ban.You may commission Grubbie designs from others, but they must be shown your MYO item in your treasury and the Terms of Service and design guide. They should be willing to edit the design if it does not follow the design rules and be credited appropriately. You may offer design services to others, but they should be limited to making a design for someone when they request/commission it and have an MYO in their treasury. You may not make MYOs or sketches for the express purpose of selling/trading/giving them away to others. When advertising, you must only use official and approved Grubbie designs as examples. Unofficial Grubbie designs are not allowed, as those designs may have elements that need to be revised before being approved. Similarly, only approved, official Grubbies may be posted publicly, such as to Toyhou.se or social media. You may only post Grubbie design WIPs in the Discord if you have an MYO item and the necessary items for it in your treasury. They must be designs you intend to submit for approval. All designs created in the Home Plate group may be changed at any time by their current owner through the use of items. You agree to having your designs made for the Home Plate group to be changed at any time through the design approval process with the appropriate items.
Ownership
Ownership of a Grubbie allows you to:
Use your Grubbie to participate in group activities, such as prompts
Develop your Grubbie in a broader sense
Make changes to your Grubbie's design through our approval system
Make, commission, or receive art and/or writing of your Grubbie and display it with credit to the creators
Use the design on alternate forms or within other communities with permission from the other community. Alternate forms must be transferred with the Grubbie in the event of a gift, trade, or sale.
Gift, trade, or sell your Grubbie to another user. The user must have a Discord to trade.
You are not authorized to:
Use your Grubbie in commercial endeavors
Use your Grubbie alongside hate symbols, bigotry, or other objectionable content
Transfer ownership in any way to banned and/or underage users.
Co-ownership is not officially recognized by the group. Disputes with co-ownership will not be mediated by the group or admin.Grubbies may be voided by the current owner of the design. This makes the design subject to the Terms of Service of the individual artist/designer of the design. Please make an effort to learn of their TOS, even if it is not easily available to review.Voided Grubbies do not need changes to their appearance (as food animals are not a unique concept), but any references to the Home Plate group or worldbuilding must be taken out of the character's profile, as the design is no longer associated with the Home Plate group and therefore does not have permission to use the group setting.
Ownership Transfers
Ownership transfers of Grubbies, items, and Inspiration currency must be done through the Ownership Transfers Google Form. It is preferred that you use Discord usernames to transfer characters and items. Please note that if the recipient uses another username on another platform to receive their items, and later tries to join the Group and claim their inventory, there is a possibility their items may be lost and unable to be claimed. The total value of a Grubbie is determined by the original purchase price of the character or price of the MYO slot used to create the character and value of commissioned art.Only the original price is recorded on the masterlist, and personal art is not included in the pricing. There is no official appraisal process, but if a user is reported to abuse this system by misrepresenting the amount and/or price of commissioned art, the user may be subject to strikes or a ban from the group.Though MYO items have USD value, if the MYO was not purchased with USD originally, they may not be resold for USD. The Masterlist will record their original value as 0 if it was received for free or in-game currency.Exchanges of Grubbies for other goods/services are defined as follows:
Trade: A Grubbie is exchanged for goods already owned by another user (such as another Grubbie, a non-Grubbie character, physical goods), or exchanging a Grubbie for a service another user will provide (such as art, custom designs, etc.)
Voucher: A Grubbie is exchanged for goods not yet owned by another user, or services the user will pay for but performed by a third party. The voucher must be generally equal in value to the Grubbie's value.
Sale: A Grubbie is exchanged for any real-world currency or currencies that can be converted to real-world currency. The sale price cannot exceed the total value of a Grubbie.
